WHY CHOOSE THE HANEY HITTING SYSTEMS

Haney Hitting System

The Haney Hitting System (HHS) is designed to transform young baseball and softball players into exceptional hitters. This system was developed after observing young athletes dedicate 4-6 years to youth league play, followed by an additional four years in high school, only to struggle with college-level pitching during their senior year, particularly at the Division 1 level.

The HHS is the culmination of 30 years of experience in training young hitters, particularly through the unique journey of coaching the same group of 15 players from the age of 10 through their collegiate careers. This experience allowed me to witness and address the physical, emotional, and mental growth of each player, helping them to excel against increasingly challenging pitching. Such a comprehensive perspective is rare among coaches.

The distinctiveness of this system has earned it's federal copyright protection. The program begins by fostering a mindset focused on the goal of becoming a great hitter and the personal agency required to achieve that goal. Recognizing that an athlete's performance improves with better conditioning, HHS emphasizes a conditioning regimen that mirrors the physical movements involved in a bat swing, ensuring players are well-prepared to execute all necessary components for successful hitting.

Goals:

  1. To develop player’s * maximum Torsion energy

  2. To develop player’s *maximum Tension energy.

  3. To not swing at a ball traveling outside their strike zone.

  4. To insure the ball’s contact on the bat is with-in the sweet spot area of the barrel.

  5. To insure optimum % of available bat swing power is transferred to the ball at the moment of ball on bat contact.

  6. To prevent the driving impact force of the ball from pushing the barrel of the bat backward, upward, or downward.

  7. To prevent player from moving any part of their body above their belt line, forward toward the pitcher while preparing their body to swing bat.

  8. Develop the player’s *Visual Motor Reaction (VMR)

  9. Develop the player’s *Motor Skill Memory  (MSM)

  10. To develop ‘’bat swing power’’ into the MSM.

  11. To develop the player’s *timing for hitting pitched ballsthat travel in their strike zone.

Detailed Explanations:

 1. ‘’Torsion Energy’’... the torquing of the Torso

 2. ‘’Tension Energy’’... the elongating of the chest, shoulders, and bi-cep muscles.

 6. ‘’Ball pushing barrel’... when the driving impact force of the ball pushes the barrel of the bat backward, upward or downward, the amount of bat swing power is reduced resulting in the production of pop-ups and lazy in-field grounders.

 7. ‘’Upper body movement forward"... Change up, and action pitches such as curves, drops, sliders, cause a player to initiate their start of their bat swing based on where they perceive the ball will be as opposed to where it is. Then when they realize where the ball really is, they can’t alter their bat swing execution to hit the ball effectively.
8. ‘’VMR’’ ... Visual Motor Reaction. The spontaneous physical reaction to what the eye sees.

Examples of VMR are, a basketball player who repeatedly sinks three point shots from all over the three point zone.
A golfer who repeatedly sinks 20 ft. putts from all over the green.
A boxer who repeatedly executes an effective counter punch.
9. ‘’MSM’’….Motor Skill Memory. The execution of specific physical movement without thinking how to do it.
11. ‘’Timing’’... for hitting pitched balls must be conditioned in two phases.
How quick the bat swing starts.
And the travel velocity of the barrel.

D.I.Y. Program Details

The D.I.Y. program serves as a condensed version of the Haney Hitting System, created to enable parents to assist their players in preparing to hit effectively against high school pitching, facilitating a smooth transition to college-level competition.

The inception of the D.I.Y. program arose from our observations of young baseball and softball athletes dedicating 4-5-6 years to youth leagues, all while aspiring to join their high school teams. Unfortunately, many faced disappointment when they were unable to make the team due to their inability to hit high school pitching as proficiently as peers who had the advantage of travel team experience or private coaching.

Concerned about the quality of training available to these players, we structured the D.I.Y. program into three distinct lessons to track each player's development as shown to the right.

D.I.Y. PROGRAM COST

• Lesson #1: $89.00
• Lesson #2: $145.00
• Lesson #3: $215.00

P.S. It is important to highlight that the D.I.Y. program is an exceptionally effective physical conditioning regimen for children, even those who may not have an interest in baseball or softball. It promotes increased range of motion, muscle toning, improved hand-eye coordination, calorie burning, and much more.
